Homewares retailer Kenji hires ex-Clintons and Jack Wills CEOs

Kenji has hired former Clintons CEO Eddie Shepherd as its new managing director to help drive its growth in the UK.

The home and gifting retailer has also appointed ex-Jack Wills chief executive Suzanne Harlow as chair of its newly established board.

It comes as the retailer, which sells Asian-influenced homeware and gifts, looks to double its high street footprint from 10 to 21 by 2025.

The retailer is set to open a flagship store in Westfield London, as well as upsize its Warrington and Bury stores following the opening of its Manchester Trafford flagship.

Shepherd joined the business in August, bringing more than two decades of retail experience including nine years at Clintons of which more than six were spent as chief executive.

He said: “Kenji’s commitment to innovation and customer excellence aligns perfectly with my values, and I look forward to contributing to the company’s growth journey.

“Together, we will build on the strong foundation already in place and drive the business forward, all while supporting high streets across the UK.”

Shepherd will be assisted by Harlow, who spent more than 20 years at Debenhams and served as CEO of fashion brand Jack Wills.

Kenji said Harlow’s knowledge of international markets and multi-brand strategy will supports its innovation and expansion.

The retailer’s operations director Derek Yong said: “Eddie’s extensive retail track record and Suzanne’s strategic leadership experience are invaluable additions as Kenji embarks on its new chapter.

“Their combined expertise will be instrumental in driving our vision forward, enhancing our market presence, and continuing to deliver exceptional value to our customers.”
