Poundstretcher raids Morrisons as it bolsters leadership team

Poundstretcher made a raft of senior appointments across its commercial and store operations teams as its bolsters its leadership team under its new private equity owner.

Miles Foster, who brings 35 years of experience from Morrisons, will join the discounter’s executive team as group operations director, reporting directly to CEO Andy Atkinson, who was previously group commercial director at the supermarket before he joined Poundstretcher in April following its acquisition by Fortress Investment Group.

Foster, will oversee over 300 stores and lead the retailer’s growth plan, and he will be joined by Liz Harris, who will head up the retail operations team following almost 20 years at Morrisons, where she left in 2022.

Poundstretcher has also appointed Morrisons category director Tony Fearon as group commercial director this summer. He will be joined by ex-Poundland exec Kyle Storey as head of trading for FMCG and former Morrisons buying exec Connor Black as head of trading for pets.

The team will also include Annette Beecham, a former regional manager at Home Bargains and B&M, and Mandy Fitzpatrick, who will manage the loss prevention team “after the great improvements she made in her similar role at Poundland”.

Meanwhile, new area managers Tim Dearing, Simon Smith, and James MacTavish bring a wealth of experience from B&M, One Beyond, Morrisons, and Asda.

Poundstretcher CEO Atkinson: “As we start this long and important journey, I am delighted that such a talented group of leaders have chosen to take the next step in their careers with us.  These people are the best in the industry, and share our values in supporting our colleagues, and putting customers first. These are exciting times ahead for Poundstretcher.”
