Aldi to create 1,000 new store jobs before 2025

Aldi is set to create 1,000 jobs in new stores across the UK between now and the end of the year.

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket said roles available will include managerial positions, caretakers and cleaners, as well as store apprentices.

The discounter, which has over 1,020 stores and employs more than 45,000 people, plans to open an average of one new store a week between now and Christmas, with new stores in Plymouth, Leeds and London among the next to open in the coming weeks.

Back in May, Aldi launched its second pay increase for store colleagues this year, taking the supermarket’s investment in pay this year to £79m. Starting pay for store assistants at Aldi is £12.40 per hour nationally, rising to £13.35 per hour, and £13.65 per hour inside the M25, rising to £13.95 per hour.

Aldi UK recruitment director Kelly Stokes said: “As we continue to open in new areas, we’re looking to welcome hundreds more colleagues to our amazing teams across the country.

“We want even more people to be a part of our success in the future, which is why we offer a great working environment and opportunities to progress within the business.”

The retailer has been investing more than £90m on store improvements this year as it looks to ensure the “shopping experience is on a par with the high-quality products”.

Over 30 of the discounter’s stores will undergo refurbishments this summer, while more than 100 are set to receive upgrades later this year.
