Debenhams launches new own brand Runway London 1.8.1.8

Debenhams has launched a new womenswear own-brand called Runway London 1.8.1.8.

As the name suggests, the 40-piece collection is runway-inspired, featuring “unique, wearable pieces” and is available exclusively on the Debenhams website.

The name reflects when the retailer opened its first store in 1818, and is “elevated fashion line honouring the UK’s most iconic department store”.

The line includes clothing, accessories and footwear, and spans pussy bow blouses, crochet skirts, pointed slingback heels, lace-cut out dresses and other pieces targeting the winter party season.

The online department store’s CEO Dan Finley said the offer “pays homage to the rich history of Debenhams as the great British department store”.

The retailer’s brand and website were snapped up by Boohoo for £55m back in 2021 after it plunged into administration, and its stores were closed when it was liquidated.

Boohoo relaunched the Debenhams.com website in April 2021. Since then the retailer has been been on a mission to revive itselt. launched a marketplace model and back in June brought back its ‘Designers at Debenhams’ programme as it continues to grow its fashion offering.

Last week, owner Boohoo revealed it was considering a break up of the group. The business said it was exploring its options to “unlock and maxmise shareholder value”.
