In pictures: Fenwick’s festive windows reimagine ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’

Fenwick has revealed its Christmas windows for 2024 at its Newcastle flagship, taking a modern twist on the classic “Twelve Days of Christmas.”

This year, the department store’s display follows the story of Foggy, a partridge on a quest to fulfil a Christmas wish: to find Santa and help his pear tree grow.

Head of creative at the department store Paul Baptiste said: “This festive season, we’re bringing a touch of the unexpected. Our take on the classic Christmas carol honours timeless traditions of a familiar Christmas, while offering a fresh Fenwick perspective, with a dash of surprise.”

A custom rendition of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ by Tyneside band ‘The Unthanks,’ in partnership with The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, will soundtrack visits to the window.

The displays were imagined by author and illustrator Chris Riddell and brought to life by Propability, a British family-owned design and production house.

The retailer’s chief marketing officer Mia Fenwick said: “Our Fenwick Christmas windows exhibits the talent of iconic British illustrator Chris Riddell and the fantastic family-owned production team at Propability, whose craftmanship has spun a modern take on a festive favourite, ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’.

“We hope people get to see our Fenwick Christmas windows either in person or online and get swept up in the joy of storytelling with family and friends this festive season.”
